Alonso's approach to cinematography aims to create an intimate visual language that resonates deeply with the viewer. To that end, his technical and aesthetic decisions are motivated by the emotional needs of the narrative. This philosophy applies whether making a commercial, documentary, narrative film, or music video; regardless of the format, his ultimate goal is always to produce the highest quality work. In addition to his personal approach to each project, Alonso highly prioritizes creative collaboration with all those involved, knowing that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Peruvian-born, Alonso grew up in San Francisco, later moving to Madrid where he lived for ten years. While in Europe, he shot and directed a variety of films, music videos, and other content that screened at festivals across the globe, collecting numerous accolades. He also received the MTV award for Best Music Video at the Independent Music Awards in Spain UFI10 for his work with Everlasting Records.
He is currently based out of Austin, TX, where he works on narrative films, commercials, music videos, and documentary. Some of the clients Alonso has worked with include Coca Cola, Verizon, Facebook, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music, to name a few.
